Sleep Dentistry
Dental Sleep Medicine is an interdisciplinary specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related disorders, serving as a first-line intervention for the prevention and management of sleep problems.
Sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia, are major contributors to issues related to temporomandibular dysfunction, bruxism, daytime fatigue, and tiredness. During the consultation, the patient’s systemic health and sleep routine are evaluated. After any necessary complementary diagnostic tests, the possibility of using a mandibular advancement device (MAD) is assessed for cases of snoring or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
