Implantology
Implantology focuses on restoring your smile and function by placing dental implants to replace lost teeth.
Implantology is a long-lasting solution that has revolutionized the way tooth loss is managed, offering a modern and highly functional alternative to traditional dentures.
Choosing dental implants eliminates poorly fitting or aesthetically inferior dentures, irritation and inflammation caused by removable prostheses, and the lack of confidence during meals.
Implantology provides durability, a natural appearance, bone preservation, improved chewing function, comfort, and stability. Just like natural teeth, implants require regular care: proper brushing, flossing, interdental brushes or water jet use, and oral hygiene appointments twice a year.
Dental Implants
A dental implant allows for the long-term replacement of missing teeth. It involves placing a titanium “root” with a crown, bridge, or full prosthesis, depending on the number of missing teeth. Implants can also be used as anchorage in orthodontic treatment.
The loss of natural teeth is often accompanied by gradual bone loss around the missing tooth. This bone loss becomes more widespread as the number of missing teeth increases. Without the pressure from chewing, the alveolar bone does not receive the stimulation needed to maintain its dimensions. Reduced bone structure can prevent proper retention of removable dentures. The quality and quantity of bone are also key factors in implant stability. When bone loss is detected, guided bone regeneration is recommended either prior to or at the same time as implant placement.
Guided bone regeneration allows implants to be placed with the appropriate size in the most biomechanically favourable position, both functionally and aesthetically.
